What brought you into this field?
I knew I wanted to be a therapist at the age of 14 when I took an AP Psychology class. Maybe even before that when I was offering advice on a Kindergarten playground to my peers while sitting on a picnic bench. I have always been pulled towards helping people. I see it as an immense privilege to witness someone’s journey of healing.
Counseling style:
I take a relational approach to therapy because I believe the therapeutic relationship is foundational to any work that we do together. I am person-centered and strive to create a safe place where you can be your unfiltered self. Each client is unique, so I am adaptable and will take an approach that will most benefit a person’s needs. I also love to laugh! I think therapy does not always have to be serious, intense work. Sometimes we need a laugh to aid in healing. I will not be a brick wall; I am very expressive! I am also client-driven. I believe the client does the majority of the work and I am a guide along the way. Client’s have a tendency to thank me and I like to highlight that they got themselves to their own goals, not me!
Modalities:
I utilize a range of therapeutic approaches to best meet the needs of my clients, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
