What brought you into this field?

I have been working in healthcare since I was 16 years old, starting out as a caregiver before enlisting in the Air National Guard as a medic and EMT. I eventually became a Registered Nurse and officer in the U.S. Air Force, a path that carried me through a deployment to Afghanistan and, later, into the intense environment of the ICU during the pandemic. I loved the fast-paced intensity and performed well under pressure, but what I truly valued most were the deep, human bonds I forged with my patients and their families during their most vulnerable moments.

However, operating in high-stakes environments for so long comes with a human cost. Through the trials of the pandemic and major shifts and trauma in my own personal life, I found myself experiencing firsthand what I had seen so often in my patients: the profound, exhausting effects of unaddressed trauma on one’s sense of self. It became clear to me that nobody goes through life unscathed, and I realized how incredibly difficult it can be to find a provider you can truly relate to—someone who understands high-stress environments, systemic burnout, and the weight of deep-seated trauma.

That realization changed everything. It became undeniable to me that there is absolutely no health without mental health, prompting me to pivot my path away from anesthesia to dedicate my life to mental wellness. Today, as a PMHNP and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) candidate, I believe that healing happens through authentic connection. I bring both my clinical background and my own genuine human experience into the room, deeply committed to being the relatable, grounded, and validating advocate that so many people are searching for.

Counseling style:

My counseling style is deeply empathetic, non-judgmental, and collaborative. I believe that healing starts with genuine connection, and I am committed to fostering a safe, collaborative, and entirely nonjudgmental space where you feel truly heard and validated as a person.

Because of my background, I don’t look at mental health in a vacuum. I want to help you understand the “why” behind what you are experiencing; exploring how your history, environment, and physical body all interact. We will work together as a team to uncover these patterns while ensuring you walk away with realistic, everyday tools, a team approach to your medication management, and collaborative plans for any lifestyle changes that can fit into your real life.

Modalities:

I utilize an integrative approach that blends traditional, evidence-based psychiatry with a modern, whole-person perspective. I frequently draw from trauma-informed care principles, supportive counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-informed strategies, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and strengths-based approaches. Because of my medical background, I always look at the bigger picture to explore how lifestyle factors like sleep, nutrition, stress, movement, and nervous system regulation interface with your emotional well-being to build a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan.

Specializations:

I provide comprehensive psychiatric care and medication management for adults navigating a wide range of mental health challenges. Having dedicated much of my professional life to the military and high-acuity medical environments, I am deeply passionate about supporting veterans, military families, healthcare workers, first responders, and anyone navigating acute stress, systemic burnout, and trauma.

Whether you are healing from trauma, navigating a major life transition, or looking for a relatable clinician who understands the intricate link between physical and emotional survival, I am here to offer realistic, validating, and expert care so we can navigate through it together.

Regis College- Master of Science in Nursing 2025

Norwich University- Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2014

Past Experience:

My clinical background spans over 20 years of medical and leadership experience in high-acuity environments, trauma systems, and military environments on land and in the air. This extensive medical foundation gives me a deep understanding of how physical illness, systemic burnout, and chronic stress interface with mental health and affect our overall well-being.
Aside from psychiatric experience, I have worked in management, ICU, peri-anesthesia, medical-surgical, and trauma medicine, and have seen firsthand how unaddressed mental health affects our physical health. My clinical rotations for my PMHNP certification spanned all age ranges and were in the Emergency Department at a Level 1 Trauma Center and at a queer-owned outpatient clinic, and I enjoyed them both very much. In the military and as a flight nurse, I have taken care of diverse patients from around the world in high-stress, resource-limited environments, broadening my understanding, empathy, and cultural competence. I look forward to meeting you where you are, and finding the right path for you, together.
