Ask me about…

Anything! It’s a good thing to be curious about who your therapist is, what they believe, and how that informs how they will respond to your needs.

Language(s) spoken:

English

I know what it feels like to get stuck. Maybe you have developed awareness of the changes you want to make, but don’t know how to take the first step. My job is to help you bridge that gap and walk with you while we figure it out together. It all starts with a conversation, human to human. I look forward to connecting with you!

What brought you into this field?

This quote by American novelist Toni Morrison captures my motivations to become a therapist best: “The function of freedom is to free someone else.”
I see therapy as integral to the larger work of collective liberation. I have worked extensively in my personal life to seek freedom and healing, which provides me with not only the capacity but also the responsibility to support others in their unique path to becoming more free.

Counseling style:

I am a queer identified dance/movement therapist and licensed mental health counselor that aims to practice from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens. I treat people as the experts of their own lived experience, emphasizing client autonomy, self-determination, and inherent capacity for growth and change. I am a person first and a clinician second, meaning my style tends to be on the more casual side. It’s important to me that my clients know they are welcome to show up as they are, as their full selves.

Modalities:

I utilize a combination of strengths-based, person-centered, and somatic approaches to support my clients improve their quality of life by getting to know themselves on a deeper level. I love incorporating creativity into sessions and collaborating with my clients to discover what’s going to work best for them. My work is also informed by internal family systems approaches, and I often utilize parts-based language to support clients in developing increased self-compassion and inner harmony.

Specializations:

I specialize in dance/movement therapy, or the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being. This approach can be especially beneficial for clients seeking to shift their relationships with their internal experiences, and for those who may have reached maximum benefit from traditional top-down approaches such as CBT or DBT.

Education:

I received my undergraduate degree from The American University where I studied justice and psychology. I obtained my Masters in dance/movement therapy and mental health counseling from Antioch University New England in May 2021.
